The King Condemned and Mocked

If you missed Will Hawk’s excellent message last week on Mark 14:53-72, take a moment to listen to it here. This week in Mark 15:1-20, the trial of Jesus moves from the Jewish Sanhedrin to Roman governor Pilate. What follows is a striking scene of the Judge of all the earth being judged by his creation.

These are not easy words to read, and yet, many of us have read them so many times we are prone to miss their gravity. Jesus, God in the flesh, King of Kings, is condemned, mocked and delivered up to be crucified.

Take some time to read the text slowly and repeatedly before Sunday. We’ll also receive communion together as is our custom on the first Sunday of the month. I’m looking forward to gazing upon the cross with you.
