Orphan Sunday: David Wooten Preaching

Dear CrossPointe,

For the past several years, our church and many others around the world have celebrated Orphan Sunday. On this day, we consider how we as a church should seek to make the gospel visible, reflecting God's heart for the fatherless through adoption and foster-care.

While every Christian may not personally adopt or foster a child, we are all called to defend and bring justice to the fatherless (Isaiah 1:17). And, ultimately the reason behind this is not for us to do good just for the sake of goodness, but because our care for the fatherless points an onlooking world to see God's love for us when we were fatherless as he adopted us into his family through Christ. This truth was explained so beautifully last Saturday by our guest, Pastor Tony Carter, at our ADOPT(ed) event. If you missed it, I really encourage you to take some time to listen to it here.

This Sunday, our very own David Wooten will preach about caring for the fatherless. David and his wife, Pepper, have been members of CrossPointe since they moved to Columbus about a year ago. David serves as the state of Georgia's director for Lifeline Children's Services.

I look forward to hearing from David this Sunday and to seeing you then!
