Dear CrossPointe,

A strong thread running through Matthew 6 is Jesus' exhortation to seek the reward of the Father rather than the reward of this world. This Sunday that thread continues as Jesus instructs us on fasting in Matthew 6:16-18. Fasting is one of those topics that doesn't get discussed that much and is often misunderstood. What is the purpose of fasting? Should it be a regular part of the Christian life? Looking forward to unpacking this text with you Sunday!

Youth: MLK Fun Day (Jan. 18, 11:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) || All middle- and high-school youth are invited! (We’ll have tire-rolling and the potato cannon!) Drop off and pick up at the Midland Chick-fil-A.

Community Group Leader Meeting (Jan. 24, 6 p.m.) || If you’re a current CG leader or are interested in leading a group, please join us! We’ll look at resources and ideas for how to lead a group, address any questions you might have, and hear suggestions for ways groups can improve.

Sunday Morning Classes (9–10 a.m., Jan. 24–March 13) || In Classroom A, Ron Mullins will continue his overview of the Apostles Creed. In Classroom B, Robert Ward will work through Paul Tripp’s Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands, a practical guide for Christians in community helping one another grow in Christ. Women’s Sewing Group (Jan. 25, 3–6 p.m.) || Join others at CrossPointe as we get to know one another and sew together! The group meets on the last Monday of the month, and childcare is available. Contact Lory Wood for more details and to request childcare.

Perspectives (Thurs., 6:30 p.m.; Jan. 14–April 21) || Perspectives on the World Christian Movement is a missions discipleship course for anyone. The group will meet at CrossPointe. Contact Springer Cain to sign up!
