We’ll finish Romans 1 this week as Paul continues to explain God’s case against sinful humanity. In particular, verses 26–32 explain how God gave mankind up to dishonorable passions—notably homosexuality.
Obviously, homosexuality is a huge cultural topic and matter of debate. While this text is not exclusively about the sin of homosexuality, it is one of the passages in the Bible that most explicitly teaches why homosexuality is contrary to God’s good design. So, our plan this Sunday will be to work through this text, then consider what the rest of the Bible says about homosexuality. We’ll conclude by considering what this means for us as Christians.
Since this text deals with some rather explicit areas of sin, I encourage parents who ordinarily keep their younger children in service to be aware of this. Of course, they are welcome to stay, but if you feel your child is not yet ready for this discussion, you are always welcome to check them into children’s ministry before the service.
I’m looking forward to working through this important text with you. Pray that I would clear, compassionate, and Christ-centered.
