Genesis 23–24, “A Bride for Isaac”

Dear CrossPointe,

Super solid message by Wayne last week on Genesis 22. If you missed it, I encourage you to listen to it here as Wayne guided us through one of the most important chapters in Genesis.

This week we’ll cover a large chunk as we look at Genesis 23–24. These two chapters form a transition from Abraham to Isaac. In chapter 23 we’ll briefly look at the death and burial of Sarah and then spend most of our time in Genesis 24, the longest chapter in the book, which tells the story of finding a wife for Isaac.

Being such a long passage, I really encourage you to read these two chapters at least once before Sunday. There’s a good bit going on, and you’ll get much more out of Sunday if you don’t come in cold. Looking forward to it!

Ladies’ Lunch (Aug. 19, noon) || Every month, CrossPointe’s women meet for fellowship and teaching over lunch ($5 Chick-fil-A). Childcare is available starting at 10 a.m. RSVP via Connection Card or by contacting Nicole Carey.

Young Adult Lunch (Aug. 24, after worship) || Meet Will Hawk and hear his plans for the group. RSVP to Will to make sure there’s enough food. Bible study will restart on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Hawks’ home!

Children’s Ministry Basic Training (Aug. 31, 9 a.m.) || All Children’s Ministry servants must attend this training (in Classroom B) before serving. There will be light breakfast and childcare. Contact Nicole Carey to sign up!

No Kids’ Church (Aug. 31) || Kids’ Church (1st–5th grades) takes the fifth Sunday of the month off so children can worship in the sanctuary with their families. Parents scheduled to serve in Children’s Ministry that Sunday should contact their Room Director if this presents a conflict.

Women’s Study: Sermon on the Mount (Sept. 2–Nov. 11) || This 11-week study on Matthew 5–7 will meet at CrossPointe on Tuesdays at 9:30–11:30 a.m. Books will be available for purchase ($12) in the Resource Room soon, and childcare will be determined based on the needs of those who register. “One Another” Member Meeting (Sept. 7, 6–7:30 p.m.) || Gather with CrossPointe’s members to discuss and pray for matters pertaining to church life. Childcare is provided and non-members are welcome to attend.

Starting Pointe (Sept. 12–14) || Our membership class has three sessions: Gospel (Fri., 6:30–9 p.m.), Community (Sat., 9 a.m.–noon), and Mission (Sun., 6–7:30 p.m.). Childcare is provided. Contact Robert Ward to sign up!
